With a new month, it is important to remember that Black History Month can be celebrated all year long by sharing stories expressed through the point of view of Black Americans, and the experiences that they have had throughout the years. Below are five great films that those who wish to learn about, and in turn celebrate, Black History can watch.

Located within walking distance from IUPUI is the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. It is one of the major art museums located in Indianapolis and is home to paintings, sculptures, clothing and more.The Eiteljorg Museum seeks to reward IUPUI students who are looking to enrich themselves in cultures different from their own by giving them an opportunity to do so for free.

Stress Relief Session at the Indianapolis Nine Lives Cat Café

Researchers have found that animal connection helps relieve stress; the Nine Lives Cat Café assists in this manner. The café is located ten minutes from campus in the Fountain Square area. The cat café has seen over 1,500 adoptions, and there is no shortage of stories ending with a happy ever after for cats that are worth sharing.

OPINION: The Impact of Gender Stereotypes on Hollywood

Gender stereotypes that perpetuate sexism are more prevalent in the media than most people realize. Most of these toxic stereotypes have been formed from the Hays code, which was a self-imposed censorship to accommodate governmental preferences in Hollywood between the late 1930s to the late 1960s. Through understanding and accepting past mistakes, it can make for not just a more diverse, but more effective form of cooperation now, and in the future.

Kirk Cameron draws crowd to Indianapolis Public Library

On Dec. 29, actor and author Kirk Cameron drew a large crowd to the Indianapolis Public Library for a reading of his latest book, "As You Grow." Cameron is well-known for his conservative views, and elicited some controversy over a public disagreement with the library over the booking and handling of the event. Despite the event being for primarily for children, several political activists attended in hopes of speaking to the actor.

Review of 'Wednesday'

If you are a fan of the spooky and the peculiar, then you are probably familiar with the Addams family. What started in the 1930s as a comic series has led to the production of games, films and television programs, with the Netflix series 'Wednesday', released Nov. 23, as its newest addition.  This series explores Wednesday Addams as a student at Nevermore Academy, a private school for “outcasts” in small town Jericho. There, she makes friends and enemies while unraveling the mystery behind the murders happening in Jericho by uncovering deadly secrets and digging up the past.

Restaurant Review: Isuka Hibachi Express and Sushi

Isuka Hibachi Express and Sushi, located on 32 E 16th St in Indianapolis, opened in January of this year. This restaurant, owned by Helmi Khosyi and family, serves good food to the community of Indianapolis, at a good price.  For people who have never tried hibachi style food, Isuka Hibachi Express and Sushi is a great place to try.

Review of ‘Paranormal Activity’: Fear of the Mundane

Everyone, at some point in their lives, has heard a loud noise in the middle of the night, and in turn, experienced the subsequent rush of fear that accompanies the uncertainty of what may be around the corner. The manipulation of this feeling is what led to the 2009 film ‘Paranormal Activity’, which inspired a slew of sequels and a new horror film franchise that decade. ‘Paranormal Activity’ capitalizes this dynamic of the very real feeling of paranoia and lack of control that one gets in the middle of the night when darkness is all one can see, through the use of subtlety and simplicity.

Five Things To Do in Indy’s Irvington Historic District

From antique stores to restaurants, Irvington has much to offer college students looking for something to do on the weekend. Irvington is a protected historic district east of downtown Indianapolis, just a short drive from campus. It is best known for the Irvington Halloween Festival originally established in 1927, for being Butler University’s original location in the late 1800s/early 1900s and being home to the creator of Raggedy Ann.

Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 2022

Despite the rainy weather, around 15,000 participants competed in the 5k, half marathon, marathon, and wheelchair races on November 5. Multiple athletes who competed in the Olympic trials, along with Luis Orta, who placed second in the marathon and competed in the 2016 Olympics. Jacob Heslington was the male marathon winner with a time of 2:18:56. Jennifer Pope was the female marathon winner with a time of 2:37:22. Tom Anderson won the male half marathon with a time of 1:03:34. Lauren Hurley beat the women's half marathon race record with a time of 1:09:49. The previous record was set by Molly Grabill last year at 1:10:43.
