The "invisible orientation": Ace identity, culture and misconceptions

International Asexuality Day took place April 6, and for all asexuals (aces), it’s a day to celebrate ourselves, our experience and the community as a whole. As an asexual myself, I’ve read a plethora of asexual content that gave answers to all my questions and a voice to affirm that my identity is valid and my experience matters. As such, I’ve decided to clear up three common misconceptions about the asexual community and shed some light on the invisible orientation.

Ranking (Almost) All of the Barbie Movies: Our Final Rankings

  With Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling coming out this summer, we, Abby Godsen (copy editor and reporter) and Jackie Bozinovski (reporter and Abby’s roommate), decided it would be a great idea to rewatch and rank (almost) all of the Barbie movies to date in celebration.  This is the fourth and final part featuring an overall ranking for all the movies watched. Any movies that didn't make it to the three previous articles will have their reviews here, otherwise, check out the other three articles to see our thoughts on the rest of the movies we watched.

OPINION: The Impact of Gender Stereotypes on Hollywood

Gender stereotypes that perpetuate sexism are more prevalent in the media than most people realize. Most of these toxic stereotypes have been formed from the Hays code, which was a self-imposed censorship to accommodate governmental preferences in Hollywood between the late 1930s to the late 1960s. Through understanding and accepting past mistakes, it can make for not just a more diverse, but more effective form of cooperation now, and in the future.
