IU Indianapolis men's soccer (3-4-0, 0-3-0) lost 5-1 to Northern Kentucky (1-5-1, 1-2-0) on Sept. 19, giving up five goals in the first half of its third conference game. Rain fell before kickoff.

The Jaguars came in on a two-game losing streak after a 2-1 home loss to Purdue Fort Wayne and a 2-0 road loss to Northern Illinois.

Northern Kentucky scored three goals in the first 20 minutes. After a hydration break, it added two more before halftime, an own goal in the 37th minute and a goal from sophomore forward Ibrahim Piracha in the 43rd, for a 5-0 lead.

Officials issued three yellow cards in the second half, two to the Jaguars. Freshman Tom-Henry Berry scored IU Indy's only goal in the 81st minute.

IU Indy finished with 23 shots, 11 on goal, 4 saves, 14 corner kicks and 14 fouls. Freshman forward Micah Eldridge led the team with 4 shots, and freshman goalkeeper Peter Field made 4 saves.

"We created chances. We just weren't good enough between the boxes," head coach Keegan Boom said. "We had more shots, more shots on target and didn't score them and the difference today was they've come in and they've taken care of their moments in the box and that's what wins and loses games."

The loss drops IU Indy to 10th in the Horizon League. The Jaguars host Western Illinois at 6 p.m. Sept. 22.
