During the first half, IUPUI led 30-19. Macee Williams had 15 points and led the attack for IUPUI.

In the third quarter, the Vikings were 3-4 from the three-point line. They were 8-13 from the field. IUPUI was 1-3 from three and five players were minus five during the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the lead was cut down by Cleveland State by hitting threes and IUPUI missing many open threes and easy shots in the post. The closest score was 53-51, then Destiny Perkins then made a three and got fouled. With that, it became 57-51 and IUPUI never looked back and won 61-54.

“Destiny was the reason we were able to get the win today, we deserve the MVP trophy with that three-point play,” Williams said.“I also give Cleveland State credit for getting back into the game. The team made me look good.”

This is the second time the Jaguars will be going to the March Madness tournament. The first time was during the 2019-2020 season and  they were not able to play in the tournament due to COVID-19.

“ This is the moment I’ve been waiting for since 2020,” Williams said.“We didn’t get to play then but we are able to play now.” Williams said.

The Jaguars will find out who they play first in the tournament on Sunday, March 13 during selection Sunday.
