IUPUI Women's Basketball braces for new changes

IUPUI Women’s Basketball will be looking much different in the 2022-2023 season.

On April 11, coach Parkinson left IUPUI and went to the Butler program.

Parkinson had a contract extension through the 2025-2026 season. Parkinson turned down the extension and quickly decided on to the Butler program.

Parkinson took with him assistant head coach Latrell Fleming and assistant coach Holly Hoopingarner along to Butler.

Then on April 14, redshirt senior Rachel Maclimore transferred to Butler. She averaged 13.1 points in the 2021-2022 season for IUPUI. MacLimore was a two-way player and was known for her offensive play and her defensive.

After losing graduate students Macee Williams, Morgan Allen and Madison Wise, IUPUI is losing their second-best scorer is MacLimore.

With Parkinson leaving, IUPUI ‘s recruitment future is also up in the air.

Miss Basketball Runner-up from Crown Point Indiana, Jessica  Carrothers, initially was recruited and had committed to play at IUPUI. She signed with Butler on April 16 following in Parkinson’s footsteps.

IUPUI’s future for 2022-2023 is unknown. The coaching staff will be brand new. The hiring process hasn’t happened yet.

 The present and the future of the program are up in the air. The upcoming 2022-2023 season will be a tough test for the Jaguars.
