The Indiana Pacers took on the Washington Wizards opening day on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in front of a large Indianapolis crowd.
Tyrese Haliburton and newly signed Bruce Brown were the stars of the game. Haliburton had a double-double of 20 points and 11 assists as well as a steal and two blocks. Brown shot 75% from three as he scored a Pacers game high 24 points which included six from behind the arc. Benedict Mathurin started his sophomore season off strong by scoring 18 points with four rebounds and five assists. Off the bench, Jalen Smith and Andrew Nembhard stood out, Smith with 13 points and eight rebounds while Nembhard had a 12 point and 10 assist double-double.
There were only few standouts among the Wizards, with Kyle Kuzma dropping a game high 25 points along with two blocks. Newly acquired Jordan Poole struggled as he only went for 18 points on low efficiency of 7-18 from the field. Danilo Gallinari showed up off the bench with 16 points.
Before the game, graphics came out advertising the Pacers as having the cheapest tickets in the NBA for opening night with $9 tickets being available. Pacers fans were able to attend and watch their team take a victory for a very cheap price. The fan experience is always fun, interactive and has viewers on their feet for a good amount of the game.
Around the league, ticket prices looked normal. The New York Knicks, like always, with very expensive tickets, at $216 for the cheapest tickets. These prices for the Pacers normally bounce around depending on who is playing against them.
The Pacers play the Cleveland Cavaliers led by all stars Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland on Saturday Oct. 28 in Cleveland.
