Sheldon van der Linde passed Earl Bamber's No. 31 Cadillac in Turn 12 with about 5 minutes left and won by 2.926 seconds in the No. 24 BMW M Team WRT BMW he shared with Dries Vanthoor, according to IMSA. Porsche Penske Motorsport's Kevin Estre and Laurin Heinrich finished third. Era Motorsport's Nick Boulle and Christian Rasmussen won LMP2. Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker held off the No. 4 Corvette by 0.993 seconds to win GTD Pro for Ford Racing, and Patrick Gallagher and Robby Foley won GTD for Turner Motorsport. IMSA's next race is Petit Le Mans on Oct. 3, according to NBC Sports.
Campus Citizen photographer Brendon Sego covered IU Indy volleyball's Horizon League opening weekend against Robert Morris at The Jungle on Sept. 25 and 26.IU Indy won Friday's match 25-16, 25-22, 25-17, with Jillian Tippmann recording 11 kills, 10 digs and three service aces, according to IU Indy Athletics. On Saturday, the Jaguars won 28-26, 25-22, 28-30, 22-25, 15-12 in a match with 52 ties and 18 lead changes. Freshman Bailey Sinish had 20 kills and 17 digs, and Grace Purichia had 50 assists and 24 digs. The two wins moved IU Indy to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the Horizon League.
IU Indianapolis held its 18th annual Regatta homecoming event Saturday, Sept. 26, on the downtown canal and in Military Park. Students, staff and community members raced two-person canoes from the transition point in a field of 106 teams, while Military Park hosted food trucks, lawn games and booths run by schools and student organizations, including an arts and culture fair tent. Floodwater from the White River filled homes on Indianapolis' north side after the storm that began Aug. 11. On Sunday, Aug. 23, residents of the River Park neighborhood were still hauling drywall, insulation and furniture to the curb, a day after city crews ran an all-day debris pickup through the area. A few blocks south at Riverwood Park in Ravenswood, volunteers worked out of a shelter house command post, checking in arrivals and sending crews into what organizers call Zone 1.
