Through interviews with senior students, four experiences emerged as essential – the ones they say no student should graduate without checking off their bucket list.

On July 1, 2025, the Indiana General Assembly's House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1001-2025 was made effective, a new state budget bill that brings major changes to higher education. IU Indianapolis alumna Emily Mellentine has been building community and connection among women and LGBTQ+ groups in Indianapolis. Mellentine graduated in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies with a minor in women’s, gender and sexuality studies and a certificate in public relations.
Earlier this year, schools across the country saw a steep increase in cuts to “DEI” programs by the Trump Administration. Now student programs are either being cut, relocated, or losing funding as a result of state and national funding cuts.
IU Indianapolis and Purdue in Indianapolis have both started many new construction projects in the last year. Most notably, the new Purdue in Indianapolis Academic Success building is being built across from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering building, as well as the James T. Morris Arena behind Herron. Now, a new IU STEM Laboratory building is also being constructed on the main campus.
