April Recognizes Sexual Assault Awareness

Heads up! This article was imported from a previous version of The Campus Citizen. If you notice any issues, please let us know.

Sexual Assault Prevention, Intervention, & Response (SAPIR) Task Force, is a coordinating council that plays a key role in making the campus a safer place. Every April, SAPIR offers a month of events dedicated to Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This year’s SAAM campaign focuses on the power of asking for consent. You can join IUPUI and its community in raising awareness about sexual violence, celebrating survivors, and educating each other by checking out some of this month’s events!

SAPIR will begin Sexual Assault Awareness Month with speaker Tricia Benitez, drug and addiction treatment specialist with Addictions Campuses in Nashville, Tennessee. In this talk Benitez will touch on her own powerful story of addiction and dysfunctional relationships in hopes of ensuring students get the help they or others need on their campus, as well as showing students what a healthy relationship looks like.
