Despite the rainy weather, around 15,000 participants competed in the 5k, half marathon, marathon, and wheelchair races on November 5. Multiple athletes who competed in the Olympic trials, along with Luis Orta, who placed second in the marathon and competed in the 2016 Olympics. Jacob Heslington was the male marathon winner with a time of 2:18:56. Jennifer Pope was the female marathon winner with a time of 2:37:22. Tom Anderson won the male half marathon with a time of 1:03:34. Lauren Hurley beat the women's half marathon race record with a time of 1:09:49. The previous record was set by Molly Grabill last year at 1:10:43.

By Laynie Rearick | May 2Now that we’ve entered the seventh month of Israel’s attack on Gaza, I completely understand the people who say it’s pointless to read and enjoy poetry. While it is certainly not a replacement for attending protests, emailing representatives and donating to relief organizations, I believe that poetry has the incredible capacity to criticize and dismantle oppressive structures and ideologies. Poems serve as a rallying cry; they give voices to the voiceless and allow people to empathize with those who have different experiences from theirs.

As an asexual myself, I’ve read a plethora of asexual content that gave answers to all my questions and a voice to affirm that my identity is valid and my experience matters. As such, I’ve decided to clear up three common misconceptions about the asexual community and shed some light on the invisible orientation.
