On Sept. 15, Momma stopped at Hi-Fi in downtown Indianapolis on their “Welcome to My Blue Sky Tour.” This tour marked the release of their fourth studio album.
Originally from Calabasas, California, Momma consists of Etta Friedmanon, vocals and guitar, Allegra Weingartenon, vocals and guitar, Aron Kobayashi Ritch, the producer and bassist and Preston Fulks on drums.
Gwen McNulty, a fan of Momma in attendance and IU student, shared how excited she was for the show.
“None of the bands I like come to Indianapolis,” said McNulty. ”So I was really excited when I saw Momma was bringing their tour to Hi-Fi.”
They were joined by New Orleans-based duo Lawn, who played five shows of the tour with Momma, Indianapolis being their first. Lawn played some of their most popular songs such as “Davie” and “Pressure.” They also performed “Barroom Wonder,” which was released earlier that same day.
They gave an energetic and entertaining beginning act that hyped up the crowd before the main act. After their set, fans could meet them by their merch table where they took photos and signed merch.
The stage was lit with blue and purple lights, featuring enlarged versions of heart lockets and chains, a motif from Momma’s newest album “Welcome to My Blue Sky.”
Momma opened with fan favorite “Ohio All The Time,” followed by “I Want You (Fever).” Fans erupted in screams and gasps for their favorite songs including, “Medicine” and “Callin Me,” both from their album “Household Name.”
Vocalist and guitarist Weingarten mentioned it was only their second time performing “Callin Me” in front of a crowd, making it a memorable part of the show.
“I didn’t expect them to play ‘Callin Me,’ it was definitely a highlight,” said McNulty.
Throughout the show the band interacted with the crowd and thanked multiple people on their team, including Jack McLean, who tuned and swapped guitars between songs.
After performing “My Old Street,” the members ran off stage for a few moments. Fans screamed and cheered for an encore as they walked back on stage to give an electric performance of their most popular song, “Speeding 72.”
Later, fans like McNulty got the chance to meet drummer Fulks and bassist/producer Kobayashi Ritch. Both Fulks and Kobayashi Ritch were more than willing to talk with fans and sign merch. Fulks even brought two fans’ merchandise to Friedman and Weingarten to have it signed.
“I waited a while after the show to get the band to sign the CD I bought,” shared McNulty. “Even though I didn’t end up meeting Etta and Allegra, it was really cool to meet Aron and Preston.”
Both Momma and Lawn gave unforgettable performances with multiple noteworthy moments. Momma is releasing a Deluxe version of Welcome to My Blue Sky on Nov. 14, 2025, while Lawn released a new album, “God Made The Highway,” a few days after the show on Sept. 19.
