IUPUI Breakup Made Official

After announcing their plan for a split in August 2022, Indiana University president Pamela Whitten and Purdue University president Mung Chiang made the breakup official on Wednesday, with a special signing ceremony in the Campus Center Atrium. In the special ceremony, both presidents made remarks and signed the papers that officially separate IUPUI into two universities within Indianapolis on June 30, 2024. Those new universities will be Indiana University Indianapolis and Purdue University in Indianapolis.

IU launches seven year plan, what this means for IUPUI

Last Fall, Indiana University and Purdue University announced that the IUPUI campus would be splitting in two by Fall of 2024. In early April, the Indiana University Board of Trustees approved a seven-year plan for all their campuses, including the soon to be Indiana University-Indianapolis campus, which will be officially known as IUI, to give students an idea of what the future holds.
