What a Trump Administration could mean financially for IUI students

On Nov. 19, president-elect Donald Trump nominated Linda McMahon as the United States Secretary of Education. Through a statement shared on Truth Social, a Trump-owned social media platform, he shared plans for McMahon to spearhead efforts to send education back to the states. This would be similar to the overturn of Roe v. Wade, where states individually decided policies around abortion, calling for an end of the Department of Education’s federal power. This poses great challenges to the federally distributed financial aid grants, work-study funds and loans in which many students receive through the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) under the Department of Education

OPINION: The end of school shootings starts with local action

As of Oct. 23, there have been 58 school shootings. That is almost six shootings for every month of 2024 so far. One of the most recent tragedies was the shooting in Apalachee High School on Sept. 4 killing two students and two staff members. In light of these events, and the upcoming election, many people are asking what can be done to prevent events like those seen at Apalachee from happening again.

On Dec. 29, actor and author Kirk Cameron drew a large crowd to the Indianapolis Public Library for a reading of his latest book, "As You Grow." Cameron is well-known for his conservative views, and elicited some controversy over a public disagreement with the library over the booking and handling of the event. Despite the event being for primarily for children, several political activists attended in hopes of speaking to the actor.

My previous article established how Social Security could be put on solid financial footing.
