Herron Spring Market officially scheduled after students voice cancelation concerns

The Herron Markets are an opportunity for students at the Herron School of Art and Design to sell their artwork to classmates, peers, faculty and local art enthusiasts on campus in Eskenazi Hall. Herron has been hosting a Winter Market annually for several years now, but in March of 2022, they hosted their first Spring Market, but students were worried it would be the last.

New Applied Theatre, Film and Television major sees enrollment success after one year

During its inaugural year, the Applied Theatre, Film and Television program in the School of Liberal Arts has seen unexpected enrollment success. The new program makes IUPUI one of the only undergraduate programs in applied theater in the country, according to Kristine Karnick, chair of Communication Studies and founding director of the program.

Editorial: A Look Into What IUI Could Be

Indiana University and Purdue University announced in August 2022 that IUPUI would split into Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI) and an extension of Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. While the excitement and nervousness of the transition has slowed as the school year has progressed, the editorial board thought it worthwhile to discuss our predictions for what IUI could look like in the future. Disclaimer: we are not a part of the transition board and our predictions are not definitive. This article is a piece of speculative fiction that visualizes some concepts that we believe may have the potential to become a reality at IUI in the future.

Office of the Chancellor launches new student-led mental health initiative

The Office of the Chancellor has announced a new initiative, the Chancellor’s Student Mental Health Council, which began accepting applications on Dec. 16. According to the website, “The newly established Chancellor’s Student Mental Health Council connects decision-makers and students in the interest of ensuring student health and well-being.”

IUPUI Student Announces Campaign for City-County Council

On Monday, IUPUI student Nick Roberts announced his candidacy for Indianapolis City-County Council, representing District 4.Currently studying political science and economics, Roberts made headlines last year for his work addressing gerrymandering in Indiana. Now Roberts makes headlines for being one of the youngest candidates to run for city-county council.

TKE hosted their second annual Car Smash for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital on Wednesday. Students had the opportunity to wield a sledgehammer or baseball bat to smash an old black Pontiac Sunfire and partake in burgers, chips, or a drink.
